About the Chorus

The Children's Chorus of Blanco County began as a dream to bring children's choral music to the Texas Hill Country, particularly communities along Hwy 281 and Hwy 290. Upon moving to the area in 2020, our director, Marisa Gauthier, discovered that children had limited opportunities to sing with others. After years as an elementary music teacher and choral director, Mrs. Gauthier knew the profound difference participating in a choir can make in a child's intellectual, emotional, physical, and personal development.  She felt called to create a choir for children and youth in Blanco County.  After retiring from public school teaching in 2024, Mrs. Gauthier turned her focus to making her dream a reality.  The Children's Chorus of Blanco County was Born!

CCBC is a 501c3 non-profit children's choir serving children in grades 3-8 who live in Blanco County and surrounding areas.  Our season runs from the middle of September until the end of May.  We rehearse weekly, with choristers attending either Mondays from 4:00-5:30 pm in Johnson City or Tuesdays from 5:30-7:00 pm in Blanco.

Our Mission

The Children's Chorus of Blanco County provides young singers the opportunity to grow intellectually, artistically, emotionally, and personally through musical excellence.

We accomplish this by...

  • Identifying and inviting young singers who are interested in developing their voices and motivated to learn.

  • Ensuring a safe and supportive environment that welcomes singers and families from all cultural, religious, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

  • Educating young singers in musicianship and vocal technique by carefully preparing quality and diverse choral repertoire.

  • Instilling persistence, honesty, responsibility, stamina, courage, cooperation, mentorship and self-discipline.

  • Providing performance opportunities in the community and in support of events by civic, military, charitable, and educational organizations at the local, state, and national levels.

  • Inspiring a sense of wonder and pride through the joy of singing in harmony with others and the fulfillment that comes from an outstanding public performance.

Our Philosophy

Music plays an integral role in the development of the whole child.

It supports language development, literacy, and comprehension.

It builds spatial awareness and coordination.

Music helps develop pattern recognition, numeracy, analytical skills, and problem-solving.

It promotes social and cultural awareness, empathy, teamwork, and community.

It requires perseverance, fostering improvements in self-esteem and self-efficacy.

It helps us appreciate beauty and inspires creativity.

Most of all,

Music puts children in touch with what makes us human, our most powerful, intimate thoughts and emotions.

Nurtured through music,
Children find their true voices

And come to believe

They make a difference in the world.
They are loved and valued,

Not for their achievements, but for who they are.
